Engcobo local Municipality hosted an Arbor day at Musikhulenathi Junior secondary School in Didi, ward 17. This event was formed to recognize and educate the community about the importance of trees and what contributions they bring to the environment; trees clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul. The Councillors and officials from various departments gave informative presentations about the significance of Arbor day to educate the community, in which individuals are encouraged to plant trees and consider the importance of trees and plants in the natural environment.The event was very fruitful, and the school provided performances from learners to entertain the audience. Portfolio head of Community Services at Engcobo local Municipal, Mrs Mgidi, was astonished by the potential she observed from the performances of these learners and as a matter of fact, she committed herself to support two learners from the school, to break the chain of poverty through education.
